So, preparations are almost complete. For those who haven't heard, I'm finally doing something about Morty, my laptop, and all the issues he has. Issues such as not burning discs properly, not reading most data discs properly, hating most wifi connections, taking a hell of a long time to start up, etc. The dude we talked to at Geek Squad said it didn't look like it was being caused by viruses (not to say there aren't any >_> ), and is most likely some error in the... uh... I forget the term but in the drivers or how it operates or something like that.
So.
The best way to fix it is to completely reformat the computer and start again from scratch. If this doesn't fix the problems, then there's something wrong with a hardware. (We could've had then run a hardware diagnostic while there, but that would've cost like $200. Or was it $150? Either way, expensive.
Thus, I finally got issues with Hypopotamus, my external hardrive (that hasn't worked since the week after I got it back in like, January or February >.>; ) all sorted out. Which is to say, he's been replaced by Hypotholemew, my new external hardrive that's exactly the same kind. (My mom's idea. She going to see if she can return the old one using the new receipt...... Even if it doesn't work, less hassle and probably cost than calling the manufacturer and then paying for shipping it to them to fix/replace and waiting to get it back)
So now I have backed up most of the things I want keep from my computer, figured out how to backup bookmarks from firefox, saved the installer files for several programs I have that I want to keep, and located the disks for the other essential programs I can't download.
Legally.
(I don't care how outdated it is, I love my Photoshop Elements 2.0!)
I even took all the files I left back on my parents' computer so I can have all my files and then some. (I didn't download any more games or manga or anything.... nooooooo.... <.< ... >.> ... <.< ) And tested to be sure Hypotholemew would indeed work on other computers, since it won't recognise/be recognised by Morty after the reformatting.
So, (this makes four times I've started a new paragraph this way) now that I have all of that taken care of, tomorrow I shall set about reformatting poor Morty. Now my biggest dilema is after the reformat, will it still be Morty? Or should I come up with a new name? Maybe Morty 2.0?
Farewell, old Morty! I loved-ed you! May you get through this safely!
I reeeeeaaaaally don't like waking up at 4:30 in the morning. Soooo cold at that hour, and then soooo hot when I come back from Denver. Carrying around winter coat is inconvenient...
Also makes for sleepy Milano for rest of day. Unless additional caffeine is consumed. Then hyper-yet-dead Milano. BUT IT'S ONLY THE FIRST WEEK! If I was able to live on an inverted schedule for the seven months I worked at Breadworks, I can do this for 11 weeks!
Mmmm.... coca-cola....
