So somehow I was thinking about Bleach, and describing characters or something, and my brain went something like

Hmmm... Gin is kinda like Fuji and Yukimura (from Prince of Tennis) in that he's got a "I just skinned your cat and made a hat out of it" grin.
    ...........Actually no, that's not true. His grin is more like "You'll never guess what this hat is made of~"

....Yeah. Amused the heck out of me at the time, but then, it was 4AM.


    So later I somehow was thinking about Yu Yu Hakusho and it occured to me that the main characters are about the same age as the characters from Prince of Tennis. Next thing you know, I've caught my self an adorable (crackified) plot bunny for a crossover fanfic.

Basically, the plot goes something like this:
    Takes place with Yusuke and the others still acting as Spirit World Detectives while Yusuke and Kuwabara are in middle school (as opposed to the latter part of the series where more time has passed). Koenma has been hearing lots of rumors about a demon/youkai that's possesed a poor student in another middle school, so he of course sends Yusuke-tachi to investigate.  Even Kurama and Hiei have to go and pretend to be middle schoolers (seeing as no one knows Hiei's age and Shuichi!Kurama is in high school). The catch is, their only lead on the poor possesed student's location/identity is that they're in a tennis club, and the demon/youkai's personality only shows itself while the student is playing tennis. So naturally, Yusuke-tachi have to form a tennis team to try to draw out the demon/youkai.
 
    From here, there would be much amusement ensuing from people laughing at poor Hiei wearing tennis shorts, and there would of course be interaction with various tennis clubs from from PoT, though I don't have any specifics on what that would involve. I also dunno if Yusuke-tachi would join Sarayashiki's (Yusuke & Kuwabara's school) tennis club, or if they'd make up a bogus school and end up drafting other YYH characaters to join them so they'd have enough people for a legitimate team.

    I don't know If I'll ever write this. I might just post the idea in a PoT or YYH comm for someone else to write. I haven't written any fanfiction or even other story in a long time, so I just know if I tried to write it, I'd end up making it a one-shot and cop-out by having the so-called possessed student just be Kirihara, except he's not actually possesed, he just does that red-eye thing during some of his games so they thought he was. And then they all go home. The End. Fear my run-on sentences.

    Personally, I think it'd be much more interesting if there really was a student who was possesed, whether it was an actual PoT character who recently started acting different when they play tennis, or if it'd be some original character from a school made up for the fic.

    I'm actually kinda tempted to attempt a fanart of Yusuke-tachi in tennis uniforms... with Hiei being all sulky and Kuwabara laughing at him...
